Summary0006580: Please add a damage log
DescriptionDying in AVWW can happen fast. I was exploring a cave at full health (approximately 160), and then before I realize what is happening I am dead. What killed me? I sure don't have a clue. I just saw a big red 60 and a big red 80 appear on my health bar and blam; dead.

It's inconvenient to die, but it's downright annoying when you have no idea WHY you died. It would be nice to be able to see things like "Joe was stuck by shadow bat for 60 damage" or "Joe was slain by skelebot sniper shot" in a log so I could figure it out.

I suppose it could contain damage dealt too, if you want. Can't hurt.

It could always be incorporated into the message log, though I don't know if this would make the message log cluttered. I never look at the message log as-is, so this would put some data that I find useful in there.

Big fan of this idea. Even if it's something that normally isn't shown but that you can bring up from a menu or a keybinding. Just for those suddenly-at-half-hp what the heck moments.

* Whenever your character takes damage, this is now logged in the chat log.
** There is a bit of a delay with this, so that it can aggregate same-source data sources and put them into one message that is easier to read rather than spamming your log with as-it-happens messages.
** The purpose of this isn't for you to realize you're being damaged as-it-happens (there are already popups and other visual cues for that), but rather to be able to go back and look at the log of what recently damaged you right after a bit of an encounter.

This could be excessive if it logs every bit of damage. Might be better to just log who killed you and who hit you for a sizeable chunk of your remaining HP (say 50% or more).

It could be excessive, but let's deal with that when the time comes. So far in my own tests it hasn't been too bad aside from getting hit by 16 pieces of shrapnel all at once, etc. And hence that's the aggregating to make that all one line, as noted above.

Yeah, I agree with Chris. When I was playing with it, it didn't feel excessive at all.
