Summary | 0005872: HBCs: limit personal boost
Description | Allowing the HBCs to be boosted beyond the 20% limit (or not be immune to boosts completely) might be a bit too much with these. Let's look at the MK4: 580k*40 = 23 200 000 + 100% boost = 46 400 000 aggregate firepower every four seconds.

Don't most of the turrets already have a cap to personal boosts lower than the standard? In any case, yea, due to the nature of HBCs, they should have a lowish personal attack boost cap. On that note, what is the standard personal attack boost limit? |
All turrets have a maximum of 100% to provide an incentive for military command stations. Capital ships have a max of 20%. Other ships don't seem to have a limit, only upto the boost provided which seems to be... 210-240%. |
The actual standard limit is 400%, but yea, nothing gets anywhere near putting out such a boost... yet. Thanks for the reminder about the HBC, I'll make it the standard turret limit. |
Wait, HBCs are already capped at the standard turret boost cap: +100%. Sure, that's a lot of additional firepower, but it's still in the same ballpark as what you'd get if you boosted a full cap of mlrs or laser turrets of the same mark. Granted, there aren't mkIV versions of those, but if there were. So I don't see where it's unbalanced relative to other turrets. |
I say leave it, the MKIV is supposed to be a Doomsday Device. |
Actually, from what I saw in the tooltips, HBCs are already receiving the standard turret 100% damage boost cap. Not sure if it is being enforced or not, but the tooltips say they are. |
Sorry for the misunderstanding. It's still a very substantial boost for a saturated target, but after more consideration I suppose it should be left as-is. Moreso because a lot of that beam damage doesn't hit, and the boosted damage is still comparative to two MK3 fortresses. Feel free to close the suggestion. |
