Description | My idea is that when you go to a port and travel to your next continent for the first time there's a chance that a storm would gather while you're at sea. There could be some kind of variable that decides that there could be a storm brewing at sea (from any port) and if you travel during this time period there's a small chance your ship will end up in the eye of the storm and capsize. You then end up washed up on an unknown small island of regions. (like with beach, jungle, volcano themed regions) Any time you're travelling to a new continent you'll be told what the weather is like at sea around the course you'll be travelling on. (you don't actually see the ship travelling it's just assumed to be happening) These areas would be like side quests and the regions get discarded for good after you leave. While you're there though there's potential to find rare treasure that you won't find elsewhere (or are very difficult to find elsewhere). There's also the possibility to make allies that join your civilization (or enemies that might follow you back to your main world to cause more trouble) So there would be a chance to meet civilizations or groupings of npcs that can't be found elsewhere. Missions could include a volcano on the island about to erupt and you would have to choose between cleaning a ruin/temple of loot before the eruption or help evacuate the inhabitants of the island. Or there might be a dispute between two tribes and you have to pick a side to stand with....or just ignore both of them and loot for treasure. (btw the island npcs just HAVE to be monkey people (tribal jungle dwellers) and turtle people (beach/cove loving dwellers) :P) Thinking about it now, there could be potential for some more throwaway mini continents. (and not just Caribbean island themed ones) That matter in terms of being a side mission while you're there but are discarded once you leave...but they can still have an impact on your main world when you return. I favor traveling being an issue. In a game with wind in the title, it seems weird for sailboats not to be an issue. |
