Summary | 0005270: Oddness when connecting with two clients
Description | Did a small test to see what would happen if I connected with two clients at the same time with different usernames, and... First character connects: Connected normally, everything worked as you'd expect (no surprises). Second character connects: The first character gets a message that it has been disconnected, but everything still looks normal. It can freely run around the world map. However, when the first character tries to enter a region, everything goes black (although the region-level numbers still show). The second character sends a chat: Gets echoed back to the second character, nothing is shown on the first characters log. The first character sends a chat: Gets sent to the second character, but nothing is echoed to the first character. The first character moves around on the world map: The movements are seen by the second character just as if the first character were still connected The second character is not seen by the first character at all. So... yeah. It seems the characters aren't disconnected properly when they get thrown out by a second connection. On the server everything looks normal though; I only have one character at a time in that list.

Anyone know if this is still an issue? |
|
You're no longer disconnected if you connect with a second character. I think that's a problem in itself though... Should you be able to connect to the server with two clients using the same key? Also, you're still able to run around if you're disconnected; it should return you to the menu in those cases. The chat-messages still get sent from a disconnected client to the rest of the connected clients. Uploading a screenshot with an example of how things could look. |
|
Disconnection should be getting handled more cleanly as of a while ago; let me know if there are still problems :) And to some extent there will naturally be some delay before the client realizes it's been disconnected unless it was a forceful kick, etc. |
