Summary | 0005075: Mouse Capture
Description | This was an issue with AIWar and perhaps it still isn't possible with the Unity engine, but the game needs to capture the mouse in order to avoid minimizing the game when clicked off the screen on multi-monitor systems. It is even more important with AVWW since the mouse is used heavily to aim spells. Alternatively, pause the game when the frame loses focus. This may not be the best solution, but it will keep the character from dying from inadvertent minimization. Thank you.

Yep, you called it with it not being possible with the unity engine when it comes to any of what you are talking about. This has been discussed in greater depth with other issues that this one is duplicative of. We can't detect even when the game doesn't have focus or is minimized. Prior to using the unity engine, when it was our own custom engine, we had it doing all those things on windows; these were probably the single biggest thing we lost when we moved to unity, and they've not added in that feature yet. |
|
You mean they still have not released the next major version of Unity yet? |
|
Sure, they've released all sorts of various versions, major and otherwise. But they've never even acknowledged this sort of issue with the multimonitor screens, let alone promised a fix. We keep hoping, and I imagine as the engine continues to gain in popularity they can't ignore it forever. But so far they've chosen to ignore it, from Unity 2.6 (when we first started using Unity), up to their current 3.4. |

My reaction as well. We even contacted their paid support a few weeks back (unfortunately during their big Unite conference), and got no response on three separate issues. Not that we wound up having to pay anything either, but it just seemed to go into the ether. I'm thinking that we'll have to contact their "custom development" group, but right now we don't have the spare cash to do anything major with that group, so that's kind of been on hold for me. |
