Summary0004803: Your auto-updaters take up +700Gb?
DescriptionI was looking through my installed programs and found that the AIwar and AVWW updater programs take up in excess of 700Gb! I thought this unlikely since my laptop's HD is only 300Gb or so, but I was wondering why this happened? Is it likely to cause issues with anti-virus scanning and such?

"Add or Remove Programs" isn't the most accurate when it comes to telling you the size of an install.

Hahaha, wow, that's the most egregiously-wrong one I've ever seen. Those programs are about 2mb. Yeah, Add/Remove Programs is just _terrible_ at doing size estimates, but I've never seen it that off before. Suffice it to say, all that is set by windows and there's not anything we can do about it; and antivirus programs and so on wouldn't be seeing this either, so you should be fine.

Just yesterday I had to use a Windows VM to get data out of some MS SQL Server backup files and had the zip extraction thing tell me that the 2gb zipfile contained a whopping 17.7pb (yes, petabytes) of data. When I finally got it extracted, it was only 8gb. These days, I only trust the filesystem to tell me. And even then, I'm suspicious.
