Description | I've been thinking and I posted something similar to this on the forums. At the start of the game it's fine to be protecting the settlements yourself, but imagine when you have about 100+ settlements and you get a message saying settlement (304,-643) is in danger. It's not pretty is it? Not to mention you might have other plans. So my idea is, have the option to beef up the defences of a settlement. Build guard towers, train npcs to be guards, give the guards spellgems/scrolls and other items and just in general give them the tools to take care of themselves in most situations. Of course it'll always be best if you want the job done properly to do it yourself....but if trained enough and given the right equipment most settlements could take care of normal mobs with marginal error. There could very rarely be special boss mobs that appear that would pose an extraordinary threat to a settlement. (or perhaps a group of settlements in a surrounding area) They could send out a call to you through the illari stones because a boss mob is approaching the settlement and they have little hope of defeating it. (if you leave them alone against boss mobs there might be a very slim chance the settlement survives but it wouldn't be worth betting on) If you weren't expected to take care of every settlement from mobs, that would mean more than one settlement could be attacked during the one turn too. So overall rather than coming to every settlements aid all the time I would love to be able to develop and evolve settlements so they could protect themselves.(at least to a point) It would give a great sense of progress too for the civilization building side of the game. | ||||

This is one of those areas where we have other stuff planned; player feedback is welcome but we're probably not going to deviate much from what we've intended for the past several months :) |
