Summary0004700: Make windstorms have more of an effect in the adventure mode
DescriptionAs far as I know, the only effect that windstorms have is increasing the effective level of the monsters in the area by 1 (correct me if I'm wrong). One addition that I thought would be cool and a 'hey nice touch' when players notice it - make the windstorm affect movement speed. Speed into the wind would be decreased, with the wind would be increased. On foot it would be noticeable, but not too detrimental.

If in bat form, the effect could be made more severe - making it less useful to just fly past everything to get to the wind shelter, if that would be desired (not sure if players currently do this, but it smells a bit like cheese to me :-P).

Not sure if it should affect enemies, haven't thought about that one too hard yet.

I'm not sure if it is currently the case, but if this kind of thing is added it might make sense to make the windstorm always blow 'out' of the area (away from the wind shelter you're heading towards), and possibly make it impossible for wind shelters to spawn as the 1st chunk.

It's not actually a bonus of plus one level, it's a 50% increase to their attack power, but that's pretty close.

I think the idea of increasing/decreasing movement rates by about 25% when moving into or away from the wind is pretty interesting! Potentially it would just blow the characters whether they are moving or not, actually, though.

And sure on the player bats being more affected. Something interesting for later when there is time, for sure.

Having gusting wind would be another approach. Every so often (maybe based on civ level vs chunk level?) a gust could blow with an appropriate sound, pushing the player and enemies left/right a few steps.

I like the gusts approach; I think I would favor it being a bit random, so you might wind up closer to or farther from enemies depending on your luck. Basically, seeing as the strategic map means that you almost never have to enter a windstorm now, it seems like when you do it might as well be a distinctive and challenging experience.

Thanks!

* Windstorms now have a much more notable effect on the adventure gameplay:
** Players, monsters, and ranged projectiles are now blown by the wind during windstorm events, making it easier to move in the direction of the wind and harder to move upwind.
** Players that are not moving now hunker down in their animation rather than standing there.
** The effect is much stronger on enemies or players that are in the air instead of being on the ground, making jumping extra tricky.
** Monsters that normally would walk/fly more slowly when not chasing a player now always move at full speed.
