Summary0004592: Make potion cooldown proportional to effect.
DescriptionI have a whole lot of low-level magic potions stored up for various reasons, and I'd like to use them. However, my new character has higher magic than his predecessor, and the potions I have barely refresh half of what he can hold. I then have to wait for the entire cooldown before I can use the next one.

These low level potions would actually be useful again if I could chug them at a higher rate. I'd use twice as many of them, twice as fast, for the same effect as higher level potions.

This would be mildly time consuming to implement, but I think it's a good future enhancement for sure.

Cool, thanks.

Whilst I suppose it depends on how it interacts with potion scaling, but "half as much, twice as fast" seems like a poor idea, maybe if it was "half as much, 1.5 times as fast" that would keep you encouraged to use current level potions, rather than making the differences meaningless.

The differences aren't meaningless, because I still have to drink both potions and wait for the cooldown in between. (Unless I'm holding down the "drink potion" key or something.)

I don't really see a reason to encourage people to use higher-level potions over lower-level ones. You're going to be collecting potions in the regions you're exploring, so it's going to be a bit boring to run around low-level areas just to collect stuff. Additionally, having to hit harder areas with substandard potions so you can get better potions is problematic. (That's what I'm facing now.)

I don't see how you're getting any use at all out of lower level potions. Mine heal only 1 HP in .516. They're just trash now, apparently.

Just how old are these potions, Bob? Eventually they'd scale to that, but they'd have to be something like 4-5 tiers old, would be my guess.

This ticket is based on magic potions, about two tiers below my level. They were fine before, but now they only replenish about half my max value. Whether that's balanced is a different issue (I think it's balanced better than before, actually) but it would be nice to have old, crappy potions still be somewhat useful in the heat of battle.

I want to say my potions and scrolls were maybe tier II or III, and I am about level 25. So yes, they are a fair ways lower than me, but they had been restoring enough, about half a bar or so, that I was still getting some use out of them for general exploration, and just subbing in the good stuff for bosses.

Yeah, the balance was broken before, but we fixed it. If a tonic in FF6 still healed half your bar one you are in WoR, that would be enormously, enormously problematic, right?

I think it was just the sudden jump with the patch that caught me off guard. I'm assuming it will scale properly, something more like dropping as you level to 80% effectiveness, 50%, 30%, 10% etc. so that you will take old pots and scrolls off your bar long before they have become one-hitpoint healing wonders.

Yeah, it already does -- I think that Josh posted the numbers in another thread, but it's something along those lines. Anyway, all good. :)

Kind of against this. If a Potion I heals 5% and has a cooldown 5% of normal it becomes a game of smashing the potion button over and over in combat. It'd make more sense just to combine 20 of them into a single high level potion or something. (Probably a later game feature?)

No more health potions, so no need for this.
