Summary | 0003276: Can not update to 5.0xx using updater on mac osx
Description | Hello, I recently installed the mac version of ai war (a clean reinstall to 5.000 via steam on mac). I'm running snow leopard and have all expansions through light of the spire. However, when I attempt to run the autoupdater it downloads then updates then closes and does not proceed to update anything. I tried running the manual updater after seeing that suggested somewhere in the forums/release notes or something like that and it doesn't seem to want to start. If there is any additional info I could provide that would be of help happy to do so but it seems I'm stuck at 5.000 for now.

You can redownload the updater itself from here, and see if that helps: http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,8283.msg72715.html#msg72715 |

Okay - I obtained the zips too for 5002, 5003 and 5010 so I'll give that a try a bit later today and let you know how it goes. |

Okay -- sounds good! |

Okay, it worked. Here are some simplified instructions for others facing the same issue: 1) download the modified updater from: http://www.arcengames.com/share/AIWarAutoUpdater-osx.app.zip 2) unzip it someplace 3) start an xterm or some console and cd to the place it's unzipped 4) run the following command, it's all one long line, after replacing <you> with your username on the mac: cp -rf ./AIWarAutoUpdater-osx.app /Users/<you>/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/ai war fleet command/ 5) restart ai war and run the auto updater as usual.. this worked for me under OSX 10.6.7 There doesn't appear to be a need, if you do the above, to manually download update zips, etc. just the fixed updater - and then putting it in the correct spot. |
