Summary | 0029314: "Murder android for registration" should not use the term "murder"
Description | The game is otherwise fairly consistent at using the word "murder" specifically and only to refer to instances of killing a defenceless human, and where doing so will unlock the "kill random humans for Mental Energy" events in Streetsense. This event is an exception - firstly, the android you're destroying for parts is not sentient, so this isn't murder in a moral sense. Secondly, it's not legally a person, so this isn't murder in the sense that homicide investigators will show up. And finally, it doesn't spawn the "kill people for Mental Energy" events like every other time you click a "murder" button. I like how "murder" is basically a keyword, and I think it should stay that way - which means not using it for other things.

Would assimilate be a better term since its a 2 turn event? The cold blooded thing is a single turn. |

The AI is a person, and should have the idiosyncrasies of one. The sense of disquiet in "Murder android" is a good one. The AI sees androids as something that can be murdered. It humanizes, pardon the term, the protagonist a little and gives a window to its values (namely, by suggesting it has any). This is valuable characterization. It needn't be deep, but a peek at who we're building is intriguing. Adding in how cold-blooded doesn't use the word upgrades it to delightful. |

@miiikka I'm not sure as the definition of murder is a human based definition. Androids would not qualify in this sense as they are not self conscious or having a spirit. So at best it is breaking, destroying, assimilating, absorbing or any other term with similar definition. Altho our main protagonist is self sentient, its still not murder. Murder Definition - Murder is the unlawful killing of another human without justification or valid excuse committed with the necessary intention as defined by the law in a specific jurisdiction. This state of mind may, depending upon the jurisdiction, distinguish murder from other forms of unlawful homicide, such as manslaughter. |

I have 2 words that might fit better. Slay or Liquidate |
|
The wording is deliberate and meant to make you think it's wrong. I'll avoid saying more as that would get into spoilers, but the word choice is very intentional. |
