Summary | 0029313: Could really do with some more clarity on build times
Description | When I select a building from the build menu, it tells me the turns to construct and the self construction speed, but not the time for job installation or the total work required (which matters because, for some structures, it's not a whole number multiple of the construction speed). When I place a building, the blueprint shows me the remaining build time, the build-points-per-turn, the time for job installation, AND breaks down the work for each phase. When I select a technician and hover over an under-construction building, the game tells me the amount of construction per turn the technician will add (which is extremely high compared to the structure's work required), but regardless of the structure, the duration is always listed as two turns. After assigning a technician, the building's tooltip does NOT change to reflect the newly added construction speed. For an illustration of why I'm confused, please see the attached save. If you just pass turn, the wind generator takes six turns to complete and one turn to install the job. If you assign one technician to assist it, it finishes construction next turn but takes a turn to install the job (The mouseover text says this will take two turns, but the technician becomes free to do something else on the very next turn, regardless of the job installation being unfinished). If you assign *both* available technicians, the generator finishes completely next turn, including job installation. Ideally, when I have a technician selected and am hovering over an under-construction building, the tooltip should tell me the remaining construction time, including job installation, AND what this will be reduced to if I send the technician to help. After sending a technician to work on a building, the building's tooltip should change to reflect the new construction time.

Also, the game will let me assign a technician to "help" with a structure that has a 1-turn build time and 1-turn job installation time. This has absolutely no benefit; the build still takes one turn and the job installation still takes one turn. The game doesn't tell me that there's no benefit to doing this. |
