Summary | 0002918: Selected Unit Frame Position
Description | I think it needs to be aligned to the right side of the scree and positioned under the planet summary section. Even more so now that it can hold more units in the list. It takes up too much space where it is now and could be a lot better. I'm not sure if this is a bug or would be better under a suggestion, but nonetheless I think it should be looked into. I am running the game a very high resolution at this time. 1920x1200

If I put the selection description window under the planetary summary then I would have to bring the selection description's max-items-without-scrollbar back down to the neighborhood of 5, and enforce much stricter height maximums on the planetary summary because the game can be played on an 800px high screen. The only reason I expanded the size was because of a mantis record saying that they'd rather have it extend all the way up to the resource bar if it needed to do so to avoid the scrollbar :) I guess I can put it back the way it was, or just to 10, or whatever. |

I do like that you can more easily pick units from the list, but it's a little silly and tad annoying to have a gap between the side of the screen and the frame. I can understand the need to balance the pixels and positions of the two summaries, thus limiting the amount of change you can do to each one. A few ideas that could be done for this is to have some options for it: One for the current position and the other for the far right of the screen. Maybe additionally an option for changing how many groups are shown or a fixed amount with the number at a middle ground of around 10 or 15. The first option could be open to use if the player picks are high enough resolution in the game and if the second option is a selectable amount, it could always be picked which the player prefers. More ideas are better then none. Hope this helps. |

Settings might be the best way. |
|
Don't reduce it back to 5, whatever you do! I like having a use for it now, and I couldn't care less that it leaves a gap at the side. |
|
Hence settings. Two locations (current, and far right) as well as height (5, 10, 20, 30?) So those of us with tall screens can push it into the corner (where the empty space is) and then adjust the height to however much will fit. |
|
Yes, this could be handled via some stuff on the settings menu. ... If this issue gets enough votes ;) I've added a number of things to various menus in the past, only to discover that very, very few people actually wanted it, and in some cases more people complain about it or it not also doing xyz, etc. |

Heh. Fair enough Keith. |

Anyone else want to vote on this? Honestly, with higher resolutions the unit select frame can be a little silly in placement. You can do it, vote for this everyone. :D |
