Summary | 0028906: Security Jacket Predator Abuse: Innately Defective & Alarming
Description | A new predator is innately alarming, if he attacks an enemy he does not become marked as defective. If the same predator equips the security jacket and moves to a different location (with different enemies) they do not attack him as he is obscured by clothing. While wearing the jacket if he attacks these enemies he becomes marked as defective and retains this status through the rest of the example. Move to a third military base with the security jacket and defective, no one bothers him. Remove the jacket and become innately alarming and he will get attacked. Put the jacket back on and his attackers stop attacking him. The security jacket can be abused in this way - or maybe it's intended? The Predator likely should be obtaining the status marked as defective - when he attacks an enemy and is not wearing the security jacket [this is proven because when my currently defective predator removes the security jacket he has both innately alarming and the defective status] Enemies are not [?] properly targeting units that are marked as defective In the attached save there is a predator and a tech bot, both obtained their defective status elsewhere and this military base doesn't seem to care.

I can't reproduce any of this, although there's a lot of words which make it a bit hard. The security jacket has no impact on "marked defective" or not. Predators and other units are marked defective when they take hostile actions against authority units -- like soldiers or security. I tested in your save, and this works. If any of your units attacks a gang member or similar non-authority, they are all not marked as defective, but that group is angry with them and will fire at them. Other groups will not target them, which may be where the confusion is coming from. When I take a predator that is defective and move it into a military base or other restricted area, security jacket or no, it is targeted (using your save). You have a predator which has the security jacket on and is standing OUTSIDE the military base, which does not have the alarm on. It is marked defective, but the security jacket is preventing the innately-alarming status. This makes it so that the military units are not targeting it across the fenceline, but again this is by design. Normally guards do not target out of their poi unless they are alarmed, or unless the target is innately alarming (defective has nothing to do with it). Wearing the jacket cancels the "innately alarming" even for defective units, but otherwise does not cause any changes. So the predator moving around with a jacket and alarming status is the same as a CombatUnit doing the same, for example. I think this may be where the confusion came from. ... and now I have also put in a ton of words. I'm one to talk. ;) |

It was a fairly convoluted situation, and the crux of it was around my assumption that a robot who does a bad thing in one location is bad and hated by everyone. Your explanation makes sense and clarified the point I misunderstood. |
