Description | In the introduction when you're presented with a choice to murder everyone or exit peacefully, this peaceful option is said to have a chance or different outcomes. I think it can be an interesting design to incite exploration and show different outcomes if after the result is present you can see other blurred outcomes (maybe those you've already discovered previously may be shown as well). Something like in the attached image, showing all the different things (if there're any) but contents of it with a blur. Probably can be a good idea to have a fixed order of items in there as well, so current outcome can be shown among blurred ones as well? | ||||

It's a very interesting idea, for sure -- but in general, I would rather have the player have a sense of uncertainty. There's so many different places that branch, and lots of little things that can affect things as you go along. In a generalized sense, I don't want the player to see "the man behind the curtain," so to speak, with stuff like this. I do want them to know there's other things that might have happened, but in cases where it's a pure random chance like this, it's not all that important -- if it were really important, it would be a skill check instead. |
