Summary | 0028451: Give meaning to investigations or automate them
Description | The first investigation feels like wasted player time and actions. Going to the city map and randomly clicking on green buildings until something interesting happens isn't particularly fun or meaningful. Is it possible to have an "investigation subroutine" where you assign a bot to do "investigation" and you can assign other bots to support it, but the player doesn't have to bother with the map. If this is not okay, then can there be an indicator added to the cursor on the city map (during investigation) that shows the size of area that will be searched/cleared. I would often right click a single building and adjacent city blocks would clear out, sometimes more, sometimes less. It was very hard to grasp how much area an investigation action would clear on the city map. Can the first investigation have some consequence associated with it. Having consequence or something would make the next investigation worthwhile, as it stands it was a thing I never wanted to do again. After that experience I did not care to bother doing the find water for the homeless investigation and stopped playing once I realized I can't progress the game without doing it.

This is just teaching the players how to move around the city, and getting them a bit more accustomed to the basic controls. It never is done in this way with no stakes again. |

FYI the water and food investigations are different; you can only go to specific locations on the map where those things exist and the security forces respond so you need to support the investigator with your other androids or you won't be able to finish them. My suggestion on how to improve this would just to restrict the nano-seed search area to a smaller area around your location rather than it requiring going all over the city. I do agree that doing that amount of movement is at that point in the game unhelpfully repetitive and tedious. Were you using the city map view or the close-in one? |

Well -- okay, that's a good point. Just keeping the search area to places that are better choices would keep the number of clicks less randomized. I got a similar note from Hooded Horse about this a while back, and said the same thing to them I said to B. But this does keep coming up, I should pay attention. |

Thanks! * The initial investigation during the prologue now only includes 3-4 districts, rather than what was commonly 45-55. ** It also ensures that one is right by the camera if at all possible, and that one is by your smartest unit, again if possible. ** This makes for way less clicking around during that period, but still a bit of clicking around, since learning to use the map is the idea. |

city map - the stated changes sound ideal for reducing clicking while encouraging exploration |
