Summary | 0028332: Reusing the Introduce sequence as a prototype for City Events
Description | Idea for way later in development At some point, it seems reasonable that events will be added to add life to the city. Things that happen independently of the player to make the city come alive. *Reuse the introduction sequence. Cordon off a portion of the city for X turns with the giant bubble. * Select the area excluding important areas (player base). * Swarm it with investigators/mechs/rebels/gangs/whatever. * If the player units or buildings are there, they are just stuck until the quarantine ends. If the units get killed, well, you shouldn't have been there. * Same event structure could be used for many events. Gang war, police activity, space ship crash, demolition, riot, radiation leak, etc. * The bubble can have various permeability options: total shield, clearance requirement, polite warning. The bubble might also be cut down into a ring, so it looks like the normal police future virtual tape effect. * Color the bubble based on event type. * Populate 0-5? of them at any time. Possibly increase them whenever the player does something to reflect activities by other entities.

It's not exactly this, but I think that background conflicts satisfy what you were asking about. Cheers! |
