Summary0002753: Civilian Spires Indestructable?
DescriptionAccording to the tooltip for the Civilian Spire Structure, players can destroy them for colluding with the AI. However, there seems to be no mechanic for destroying them. Simply clicking on them to target causes ships to move around it and not shoot anything (including other targets like AI ships). They are also immune to scrap (although why you would want to do so is questionable, so this is just nitpicking). This inability to be destroyed explicitly runs counter to the tooltip. Asking on the forums did not receive a helpful conclusion.

I request that this be looked into with the goal that they CAN be destroyed by your fleet while still on an AI planet. This allows players two strategic choices:

1. Free the civ spire structure; defend it for 5 hours to recoup AI cost while also recieving the positives / negatives of a neutral/owned planet.
2. Destroy the civ spire structure on an AI world; allowing for players to stop them from adding to AIP while not destroying the AI presence there.

Did you hold X while rightclicking?

Yes, that was brought in the thread. I found it from the relatively archaic .pdf.
Here was what techsy730 said:

"The old "force attack" command mapping (ctrl+x) was broken when x was repurposed. There has been no replacement since. In fact, there is not even a place in the keybindings for it, IIRC.

They need to bring it back."

In any case: x + right click does not work.

In terms of the old "force attack" command, that's long gone and no longer needed, as there's nothing that you can't attack by just right-clicking it if you can attack it at all. This was a different bug, but it's now fixed:

* Spire Civilian Leader Outposts previously did not have their minor faction stance properly set, so they could not be attacked. Now they are properly noted as AI Allies until captured by the human team. They are still direct-only to attack, though, so unless you accidentally mis-click on them your ships won't attack them.
