Summary0026788: Threat explosion and loading inconsistency (Hydral Federation)
DescriptionThis error was first encountered on version 4.007 but I can reproduce it on 4.008

Game setup:
HA Campaign
Macrophage enabled
Resistance fighters enabled
Hydral Federation Mod enabled and Faction present.

In this campagin I recently activated the spire beacon and I did recover the first 2 artifacts and established the first 2 cities. After repelling the exo waves triggered by the moving artifact I was suddenly greeted by a couple thousand in strength made up of dire guardians wrecking my front line system. These were not after me but instead after the federation which is hostile to all.

All of the guardians showed NOT AFTER YOU in their tooltips. After wrecking the system Caliban around half or more of the guardians lost this tag and started going for my home world, resulting in me gaining thousands of threat and losing the game. Around the same time I saw the "Faction over cap" notification that I reported here: https://bugtracker.arcengames.com/view.php?id=26778 so maybe that is somehow connected to the guardians starting to hunt me?

Since I was pretty sure that I did nothing to cause that much threat to come my way I started going back over previous saves and autosaves to see if anything strange happened. While doing that I noticed a couple of things

1) Threat directed against the federation was growing rapidly
At 4h 39m the threat against the federation was at 1.4k (save called 7)
At 4h 45m it reached 7.7k (save called switch to spire)
At 4h 50m it reached 11k (autosave 4h 50m)
At 5h 0m it reached 21k (autosave 5h 0m)
At 5h 10m it reached 31k (autosave 5h 10m)

This was the point at which the threat started wandering through my systems and soon after I was dead. I suspect something is going wrong here since that is a threat increase of 1k a minute more or less consistently.

2) Threat is traveling in time and loading inconsistently when loading saves
If I start the game and load the saved called 7 I have 529 threat directed at me.
Restarting the game and loading the 5h 10m auto save I have 853.

Restarting the game again and loading first save 7 and then the 5h 10m autosave I have ~9k threat against me
Restarting the game again and loading first the 5h 10m autosave and then save 7 I suddenly have 1.3k threat
Restarting the game again and loading the 5h 10m save and then reloading it again I suddenly have 33k threat and all the dire guardians that are on my planet (hunting the federation) forgot about the federation and turned into regular threat.

This loading behavior was observed both on 4.007 and 4.008
