Summary | 0026444: "InsanelyHigh" Unit Ranges Don't Draw Attack Range
Description | When holding the "Z" key, you can see unit ranges. This isn't true for anything with the range of "InsanelyHigh" or "EssentiallyInfinite." For the latter; this makes sense, as you wouldn't see the range anyway. For the former; however, if you use grav well sizes of higher than "Spacious" (76K), then the units with "InsanelyHigh" attack ranges actually have areas that are out of their range. The "InsanelyHigh" range is 99,200. However, when trying to see the unit's range circle it doesn't display, despite situations where it can't hit faraway targets that are out of range. I tested this by starting a new save, throwing down a catapult at the edge of a "Grand" (148K) grav well world, and spawning a wave from a wormhole that was on the other side. The catapult could not fire until the units were closer, obviously, but you can't see the turret's range at any time.

Yep, the performance on those has historically been too bad to show it. Since switching to a new way to render the circles, I'm not sure if that is possible now. |

Thanks! * Much longer-ranged units draw their ranges now, since it is no longer so gpu-intensive to draw those as it was back when we first put in the limiter. |
