Summary | 0002643: Speed Racer + Turret Train + FRD = ugh | ||||
Description | A speed racer AI has astro trains zooming around at 200+ speed. By itself that's not bad but turret trains get auto-targetted and have 50M HP, that means any unit on FRD will immediately try to chase them when they pass through a system. It takes a long time to wear the things down since they run away so fast. Turret trains should probably not be auto-targetted anymore, 50M HP on a fairly harmless unit can keep your defenses busy for a long time. I'm not sure if astro trains in general should be immune to speed boosts since slower movement would let them do more damage | ||||

Turret trains SHOULD be auto-targetted, but I do think that trains should be immune to speed boosts. |

With 50M HP and a mere 7200 damage the things may not be worth autotargetting. |

I'm not sure about gravity effects, it would let them fire more shots at grav turrets. |

Part of the issue is that we don't know how frightening astro turret trains can be when they start attacking, thanks to a bug that is keeping all astro trains from attacking. :P |

Maybe they could be set up to have turret modules instead of a built-in function so you can destroy most of their offensive capabilities in a pinch but they'd regrow after a while? |
