Summary | 0026423: Dreadnaughts dealing too much damage.
Description | I don't actually know if this is specific to the dreadnaughts or not, it's just where I noticed it- it might be the coilbeams, it might be something with stacking, I have no idea. I was cleaning up the fallout from a large hack, and I noticed my Spire Dreadnaughts were one-shot killing stacks of 40+ mk6 pike guardians. Now, the dreadnaughts have a total DPS of about 8 million between the two of them I was using, and those guardians have about 650k total hitpoints. So they should be killing at most a dozen or so per second, not 50. This can be seen in the attached save at Ur. Those two dreads murdered a >10k strong hack response after the rest of the fleet got shredded, that's why I started looking closely.

The Dreadnaught's damage is unchanged for about a year, so it's probably some mechanical change. I wonder if it's related to SirLimbo's work, so assigning it to him |

Do you have a save where there still is a few more pike guardians? Kind of difficult to test since most of them seem to be dead already. |

I didn't - recreating one fell into the amount of time where I didn't want to do it without being asked, but was happy to if asked. So: Saves recreate 2,3 and 4 are at different stages is the process. Recreate 4 is closest to the original save, but a few more stacks of pikes. Recreate 3 has most of the hacking response left, but for this reason things are a little chaotic. And recreate 2 is at the start of the hack. (I hacked for Seeker turrets, if it matters.) My impression from my observations while doing this is that it's the killshots that matter. Shots that don't kill one of the stack look pretty normal damage-wise, but shots that kill a member of the stack tend to kill a lot or all of the stack. But that may be observational bias. |
