| Description | Happens in every game I've played on this system, attached example. If you suicide a fleet into high defenses you'll quickly see that some of the respawning units respawn in defender mode. Also, sometimes if you go through a wormhole, your units will all turn free roaming mode off when they go through the wormhole. You have to check every time you order a fleet to attack an enemy planet because sometimes they'll all just be sitting there in defensive getting whaled on by turrets and stuff. I haven't figured out what triggers this - it happened once in this save, and once in the other save I uploaded before I bricked that one. | ||||

In the save that you provided, the flagship is in pursuit mode, so any ships that are spawned from it will be in pursuit mode by default. However, I think that you were meaning that when you take it out of pursuit mode, your ships still are sometimes in pursuit mode (a subset of them). I tried that as well, and I was very confused for a moment by the fact that I did see some of them going back into pursuit mode, whether they died or not. If you hover over those ships that are in pursuit mode, however, you'll see that they are drones. Drones are ships you own, but that have a very finite lifespan, and which you cannot control. They are always in pursuit mode, by definition, because otherwise they will die. In this particular case, those ships are from a tackle drone launcher, which fires drones out of a gun. They have a suuuper short lifespan and are considered basically bullets. All is well! |
