Description | Please stay with me and hear me out. The current behavior regarding moving the camera with hotkeys appears to be this: when you have no fleet (or other fleet) selected and you press it's hotkey, the fleet is selected and the camera does not move. Press it again and the camera moves to said fleet. In other words, if you want to see your fleet right away, all you have to do is press the hotkey twice. Good. In reality though, I find myself accidentally moving my camera a lot because I press the fleet hotkey to select the fleet NOT KNOWING that I already had that exact fleet selected. For example, when I want to send fleet 1 to "X planet", I don't check to see if I already have fleet 1 selected, I simply press 1. Maybe I was looking at "X planet" when I decided to do this, and now I have flown my camera off to a completely different place than I was expecting (camera now at fleet 1). I personally do this constantly. All session long. An easy solution that won't change game play very much, would be to only move the camera when the hotkey is double-tapped. As in, if the hotkey is pressed a second time after a set amount of real time, then it is assumed the player didn't want to move the camera and was just selecting units. Players expecting to switch the camera to the location of their fleet by pressing the fleet hotkey twice still get the behavior their looking for. And accidental camera moves would be eliminated because the camera move "maneuver" is deliberate and unlikely to be done accidentally. | ||||
