What about just disabling the keybinding for "hold fire mode" by default? I think players who want to use it can rebind it, but I think it's very much a n00b trap. I've seen a bunch of new players turn on hold fire mode by accident and then get really confused in my MP games. |

Hmm. I think it should have a default keybind, but I definitely can see benefit from it being something that's not as easy to hit accidentally. |

Another idea to help out could be to have a notification/pop-up if the player issues an attack move with units that are in hold fire - "Commander, our ships cannot attack while in Hold Fire mode' or whatever. |

Why does it need to have a default keybinding? I've disabled the keybinding for myself, and almost never use it (I basically only use it for Zenith Trader purchases). If you want to enable it then you should need to go out of your way (either by clicking or by binding it yourself). |

From my point of view, because it's on the standing orders panel at the lower-right of the screen and all the other ones there have keybinds. Anything that is presented that way in the UI should have a default bind IMO. I don't use it a lot, but it is occasionally useful. Having something like that on the screen without a hotkey is not good. |

I think the "N" key is too close to the space bar. I'm sure I'm not the only person who can't type correctly on a keyboard. For hold fire either it shouldn't be bind by default or rebind the hot key away from the space bar at least. |

I never use it. I understand that some people do, but this use doesn't prevent it from being a noob trap. |
