Summary | 0002505: A realtime Clock.
Description | Civ put in a clock and alarm so you don't get sucked in too much, this game's even suckier. (How's that for a compliment? :P) Having an option for one right below the game timer would be nice, along with an alarm that auto-pauses and saves would be perfect for those who have something better to do than save the human race from the AI.

An alarm could help us not ignore our lives and jobs when we are emerged in a 8+ hour session. And I'm also the type that looks at the clock every once in a while whether its important to or not. |
Voting up with the proviso that I can choose among offensively geeky time scales: - standard - military - swatch beats - star trek stardates - whatever times scale was used in Farscape. "Arns" and "microts" or something. also wouldn't mind having the 'real time' of game play (which includes pausing) being tracked separately from 'game time' |
An option at least? I think every game should have an in-game clock. |
I'd like to have an option to track "full time" (i.e. paused plus unpaused game time) as well. An optional real time clock inside the game would be useful as well, so you don't have to Alt-Tab out to check. |
A full day of work after a full night of AI war isn't particularly awesome. I really like both the original suggestion and the "full/real time" game clock. |
Add 'pirate' time to doctorfrog's idea. Then we're good. |
+1 to this and doctorfrog. Do want stardates. |
Additional geeky time systems would be Reyn, Hammer and Binary Time. |
Real time clock would be very useful :) |
For the Computer/Electrical/Software Engineers among us, give us a Binary and BCD clock format, for extra geek cred. |

For 5.088: * A longtime favorite on the mantis voting: Added a mouseover tooltip to the game clock in the upper-left corner that displays: ** "Game Time", the clock that's already there, which speeds up or slows down with the simulation and stops while the game is paused. ** "Local Time", as in real-world, according to your computer. ** "Real Time Spent In Game", which is the amount of real time you've spent playing that particular game (i.e. that particular savegame), and ignores simulation speed and pausing, etc. Thanks :) There's a bunch of other ideas in the post/comments, so I can't tell exactly who wanted what, but if there's some part that wasn't done that you really want please open a new mantis record with one-thing-per-record so I can tell who wants what :) |
Um, any chance for an option to make this (or at least the realtime spent in game and/or the local time) NOT a tooltip but rather just in the status bar as well? The impression I was getting from these comments is that they wanted at least one of those two to be "in your face" like the in-game timer is. |
Agreed with TechSY, I saw this as an addition to the info bar, or at least a tiny little window somewhere else it would fit. If space is an overriding concern, then make the clock stay in its current place, but each click rotates it to the next type of clock. But preferably, the system time should always be visible, and the game clock should also always be visible. |
Just to clarify, I did not add on "another feature request" to sound ungrateful, but rather I feel that as it is implemented as described now, it does not actually meet the request in the issue. |
