Summary0002419: Anti-star Arachnid mark V overpowered, too generalist.
DescriptionI'm in a game, default settings, 80 planets, difficulty 5 AI, and in the second great scouting outward I managed to find a anti-star fabricator. Besides the minor difficulty of capturing it, I had no further difficulties, as the relatively small fleet of spider V's was enough to plow through anything that they came up against, and they easily deepstriked the rest of the map with their huge attack number, and it was so early, I only had to defend a handful of wormholes, and none of the 500+ threat broke through. That might be a sign of the difficulty level, I dunno.

I'm thinking there needs to be some multipliers set up so they're only so powerful against their intended victims, starships. and otherwise mainly an engine damager. That fleet, by itself, could clean any mark III defended guard post with only minor damage, or mark IV's with a few casualties, which while fun once, will be tedious .

I tend to find Anti-Starship Arachnids to be powerful and useful, but not overpowered on higher difficulties. They definitely can't solo the galaxy once you get up to difficulty 8 (it might be possible with some effort on difficulty 7).

imo, anti-starship arachnids would benefit from having a damage output proportion to the targets maximum hitpoints (ie, maximum damage on targets with 2 million+ HP, minimal damage against anything with less than 100k HP)

Or divide its damage by the target's ship cap?

* Anti-Starship Arachnids are now completely unable to hit any other sort of ship other than starships, but they retain their very powerful nature agaisnt starships specifically.
