Product Version | 2.026 The Faction Duality Problem
Summary | 0023157: Abnormal Threat wave below threshold
Description | I have been investigating waves and so have the tracing activated for budget&waves. The current oddity is that the AI choose to send a wave against an officially AI-held planet (Tangaroa) that is truly marauders-held. However when looking at the log it says that no valid target were found, which should be wrong? ChooseWaveTarget: No valid targets were found are adjacent to an enemy planet. ratio 1.199951171875 isreconquest True No valid targets were found. 4/17/2020 10:20:37 AM It has above average strength to the regular wave (that is being sent at the same time). The AIP threshold is below threat waves unlock, and wasn't reduced below the threshold by AIP reducers. The log doesn't states it's sending a wave against marauders but that it couldn't find a planet to send the wave (which is wrong, given Narshe is currently target of another wave and took two waves simultaneously at least three times). So why is there a wave headed toward Tanragoa?

Does the wave say "This wave is headed against the marauders"? |
I cannot find the mention of wave being sent against marauder in the log, even when I load the game again or do a search. I do see a bunch of ChooseWaveTarget: No valid targets were found are adjacent to an enemy planet I also see a lot of "WaveComposition" stuff which seems weird. Why is the game proposing dozens of WaveComposition rather than just one for the planet launching the wave? AI spending 65788.0524902344 on Reconquest at 10065. When you hover the notification, does it say "against the marauders"? |
Nope. Nowhere I can tell. |
So hold on, this bug is a "The game is working reasonably but the debug logging is confusing?" Since the eventual target it came up with is in fact a reasonable one? |
So far as I can tell it went after planets with Marauders though I should check if that's always the case (not sure, because Threat fleet exist so I need to make sure it doesn't happens before). The log is confusing though, yes. It doesn't state it goes after Marauders, says it cannot find a proper target, and spam wave composition. So is it a broken system that somehow happens to work reasonably, or just logging issues? I get further confused because of the single AI throwing multiple waves, which I thought for a very long time needed multiple AIs to happens (as I oft played with multiple). But weirdly even though I assume the AI has a single Wave budget, it uses to send waves at the same time. |
Keep in mind that the logging is intended as a development debugging aid, no more. From your description, there's no sign of any actual problem in the code. If you are curious about how things work then I encourage you to look at the code. I don't think anyone on the dev team has time to investigate things that aren't actually bugs given the number of actual bugs that need to be resolved. |
