Summary | 0002270: Bringing back the ship battle simulations
Description | Although they no longer play a role for in game reference, this still could be nifty to have. The reference screen is awesome, and does a good job at gauging relative unit match-ups (though there are a few tweaks to its UI it needs), as far as I know, it doesn't consider unit speeds, unit range, and special abilities (cloaking, vamperism, whatever) and how they influence the battle. These simulations would. As before, write the results to xml or whatever when it is done. I am not expecting this any time soon, as I'm not sure how much of it you ported to Unity. Also, this may have to wait until the next stable version of Unity, because of how ornery this version's garbage collector is.

Um, they never left. ;) The shortcut for starting them in a UI-less fashion did disappear, if that's what causing the confusion, but the in-game shortcut that runs it with a UI (only way to do it in this engine) is alive and well. |
Oh really, thanks. :) I'll see the the garbage collector can "handle" that much stuff being made and destroyed in a short time period. |
Yes, I run it routinely, it's actually a pretty simple case compared to the actual game. That's what I use for balancing the game, while Keith uses his methods (reference sheet, etc). |
Um, silly question, but how do you start it again? I can't find it in the keyboard shortcuts. |
Have the f3 menu up, then I think it's ctrl shift f5. |
Hmm, it isn't working. Is it only enabled in the debug build? EDIT: I just remapped it to ctrl + shift + F4 and now its working, weird. |
Strange -- well, glad it works, anyhow! |
