Summary | 0022226: Battlestation attachments don't gain marks from category tech; They should
Description | If you invest tech in Citadels all they get is increase personal stats such as damage, energy, metals, hull, and shields. The marks of their attachments is unaffected. This makes the Battlestations tech quite unattractive to invest in in general and from a balance perspective, it caps their attachments at mk 5 (e.g. mark 5 Beam Turret from Fusion tech), which is a distinct problem in high-AIP games. Finally it means that the data given in fleet selection on game start is never going to happen. You select a battlestation and see that it gives 7 or 30 turrets of this or that, but as the attachments can never reach mk. 7 but only mk. 5, you max out at 4 and 15 respectively. So let the Citadel tech increase the mark of battlestation attachments. It is the right thing to do.

"Finally it means that the data given in fleet selection on game start is never going to happen. You select a battlestation and see that it gives 7 or 30 turrets of this or that, but as the attachments can never reach mk. 7 but only mk. 5, you max out at 4 and 15 respectively." The values displayed in the lobby for Battlestations are an error. A change occurred a while ago that consolidated the player Turret count into fewer but stronger numbers. The lobby is still reporting the base value, ignoring the multipliers. There is no indication of it being a maximum count - it is only the starting count. As noted in the other report, this is a Chris area thing. That behaviour is specific to that ability of planetary fleets, and extending it out interferes with that intention, particularly as Battlestations and Citadels are not local area only. Last note: If you had 15 Turrets at MK5, you would not have 30 at MK7. MK5 cap multiplier = 2.5x MK6 cap multiplier = 3x MK7 cap multiplier = 3x Info on the consolidation: https://wiki.arcengames.com/index.php?title=AI_War_2:_The_Refinement_of_Fleets#Player_Ship_Caps |
