Summary0021143: Parasite fleet targeting preferences
DescriptionFrom Jonesmz on the Steam Forums:

The parasite ships that come with the starting "parasite" fleet keep attacking guard posts when there are other AI ships attacking the parasites.

Is it possible to adjust the targeting preferences of the parasite units? I know I can micro manage the individual ships, but I'd very much rather not, and the current priorities seem counter productive to the parasite fleet's strengths.

My idea: Make a new XML priority for "Zombification as major primary", so that ships that parasites can zombify get a 100-200 importance bump to put them over guardposts.

You would want to write a new TargetEvaluator for Zombification weapons then. See CMP_TargetEvaluators.xml for the XML and TargetListPlanning.cs for the implementation

I uploaded a set of changes to deal with this. Now parasite weapons will assign less importance to uncapturable ships and ships that will already be zombified on death. They also increasingly prefer to attack targets that have parasite damage already on them, so they are more likely to get a ship past the tipping point before it dies.

P.S. - I'm sorry my commit ended up listing a ton of changes, Visual Studio ended up obliterating the white space you have inside parentheses when I accidentally deleted and readded the final brace for the class. I would clean up the mess, but I don't know how to merge my changes (minus the formatting nuke) with the previous file in SVN.

That just seems to be something that happens every now and then. I don't think it's a big deal, I don't recall anyone going back and changing it.
