Summary | 0002053: AI Eye Still Using Ship Counts
Description | Is the AI eye still using ship counts? With the new-found firepower calculation, should the AI eyes still be about ship counts, or about being "out-gunned" by firepower? (Either answer is fine, I'm just wondering if you considered this) If the AI eye is re-factored to use firepower, the 2x ratio needs to be adjusted, as 2x firepower is currently the ratio the AI to free all defenders on a planet, so it wouldn't make much sense for the AI eye to activate while the planet is being abandoned to its doom. (1.5x firepower trigger maybe?)

For the moment, having it still use ship counts is intended. It's not meant to punish coming in with heavy-duty golems or starships, it's meant to punish coming in with the blobs-of-doom. But, in the future it's something I'll be looking to expand on in different directions (probably outside of the base eye), though. |

What about he case where the AI has 10 star-ships (and maybe a token few fleet ships) and you send in 40 fleet ships (which is sort of needed to deal with star-ships). Should this still trigger the AI eye? (Quick: Say AI eye ten times fast :P) Sorry for being nitpicky, but this is a quite possible scenario for the Starship Commander AI. |

Yes, I think it should still trigger it: the player sees the eye, and they should know not to do that without raiding the eye first. The more exceptions and "except when" I add in for something like this, the more incredibly confusing it will become for players. It's true that this makes it much harder in the hands of the starfleet commander AI, but that's a needed byproduct of mechanic simplicity for the eye. |

Okay, sounds reasonable |
