Summary | 0001703: Raiders from carriers stuck under forcefield
Description | I've attached a save file with the stuck raiders. Basically they were in a carrier which was destroyed passing through my tier 2 forcefields, and the ships released (raider IIs) are stuck. You'll probably want to pause when you get in, since they're getting trashed by my fleet ;) The relevant system is the southern-most (human) system on the map, in the event you have trouble finding it.

Hmm, i opened the save and they were no longer under the forcefield, so it looks like that won't really help, but it shouldnt be too hard to reproduce. I'll see if I can get it to happen again and post a save from just BEFORE the carrier dies ;) |

plural ff.. it happens such that a unit wont be pushed out of the way properly if there are two ff that the unit intersects with at the same time - you will note this with ff over wormholes all the time, and to a lesser extent, teleporting units for some weird reason |
My understanding is that raiders are immune to ffs and wouldn't be pushed around by them, but perhaps I'm misunderstanding or misremembering. |
raider the bonus ship is NOT immune to ff, just starships |
Raptors are immune to FF from what I recall. Raiders get a free pass with tractors. Around only partially overlapping FFs like you sometimes see on top of wormholes it generally results in the ship being pushed along the boundaries of the overlapping FF until they get far enough out they stop bouncing back and forth, but on FFs overlapping almost completely it seems they just get stuck instead of being immediately ejected like they would if they had come out under a FF when going through a wormhole. |
Yep, what the others said about overlapping FFs -- we can't really do anything about that, as it would be extremely CPU-intensive to do so. The current "trapping" behavior is pretty edge-case, and was our way of not having the CPU requirements escalate from overlapping ffs. |
