Description | http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,6944.0.html Attached is a save from a very long-running game I played, taken maybe 30 min of gametime from when I actually did win at the 45 hour mark. The main reason I'm posting it here is due to the AIs stacking up 10 barracks in the Dewig system. I'm not really saying something is broken, but it does seem strange and possibly unintended. For some reason that system seems very reluctant to release its reinforcements to border-aggression style attacks. It's been creating maybe 1 barracks per hour or so since I put the system on alert by taking a neighbor. There are tons of other systems on alert on the game, and all the other ones being reinforced regularly launch attacks it seems (and don't create a bunch of barracks). Maybe it has something to do with Dewig being a mark IV system? The game was started months ago (just before the knowledge raiding changes), so I got to see first hand the sea change of AI ship cap handling that went in with the recent patches. As far as that is concerned, when I patched up everything went really well and all the new guard posts that were seeded in really livened things up. The AIs created several barracks right then scattered around several systems and didn't release a flood of 10,000 ships to end my then-25 hour long game, which I appreciate mightily. Smiley They also destroyed probably tens of thousands of turrets - I wish I had a pre-patch version to compare - so suffice it say the recent patches have changed the late-game AI galaxy dramatically. another poster says: I'm seeing something similar in my current game with Drelik and Yeriye, they have 0000032:0000020 barracks apiece (and are adjacent to a single, useless distraction world I control). I figured it was because I was playing on AI level 6 and it simply wasn't making good use of its reinforcements, but maybe it is something unintended. I'll attach a save from my game for perusal as well, in case it's helpful. | ||||

I should make it so that once a system passes four barracks, it instead does puts all the ships that WOULD have gone into a barracks into border aggression attacks instead. I think that would be a lot more interesting, and it would do it in a way that wouldn't break existing savegames. |

This was more or less the intended behavior in the past, but it was admittedly odd. Now the AI only builds one barracks per planet, and after that they start building carriers, instead. Those are a lot more troubling, and a lot more interesting. ;) |
