It is indeed somewhat strange that a tiny FF Gen has an FF hundred-fold stronger than a huge structure like the Spire Shield Post. However, I think the FF Gens are nasty enough as is. Maybe give this one some firepower, so it's like an average guard post, but with an FF. I'd say some sort of energy ammo would be ideal, as it could be releasing it from its core. The same energy it uses for the FF.

Could make it even nastier by using that theme altogether. Every shot it fires is powerful, short-to-mid-range, but eats away from its HP. If left alone, it could have a slow regen to restore the FF eventually. Best taken care of with ranged ammo, or the traditional bombers (or if you think about it, a bonus to Polycrystal hulls could be its specialty, which separates it from normal FF's).

Honestly, most of the guard posts are jokes right now, the short range post is harmless, the passive post just a waste of time, only the MRLS post makes me listen up.

I still remember when guard posts was nigh nill HP structures that did nothing else then spawn more AI ships, so my perspective now is that they are significantly more versatile and harmful. However, I do think some of them can stand a little boosting, but they should not be the main attack fo the AI, the ships should be that.

HitmaN has an interesting idea as well. I am not sure if its like this already, but how about making the ships under the spire guard post not loose damage when firing from under it, and in addition to having a field over it also boosts the AI ships attack power? Thus making the spire guard posts strength the ships it has rather then the post itself.

E.g. x2 attack power boost and a more HP sturdy shield.

Yeah, I remember guard posts doing nothing themselves but loading them up with various weapons suggests that they're supposed to differ.

AFAIK all AI shields have no impact on attack power, it's only the human shields that cause the 75% drop.
