Summary0001594: AI possession of S blade spawner - unbalanced and laggy
DescriptionWhen the AI has come into possession of the Spire blade spawner, it becomes both an inhumane struggle, and a performance issue.

See the screenshot for an example of what can happen; 100+ blade spawners, and there are 500 of these blades flooding the screen. This would be a nigh-impossible scenario if I were using a conventional fleet. I see only autobombs/other suicidal units to be a realistic counter to this madness.


Either restrict the AI from ever using blade spawners, or implement a sort of debuff when more than X of these ships exist on a planet.

Spikey, do you have a save with an existing excessive population? I have the interstellar culling plague spores ready, but lack a decent test case.

Well, I've checked in the fix, should work as far as I know, but I'll test with a save if I see one.

As per yesterday in IRC, I'm still seeing massive quantities of spawners.

New uploaded solo save is the same game that demonstrates this phenomenon, now both planets have more than 4 spawners of the same MK.

Ok, will take another look.

When coming back to one of these to say it's not fixed (or not fully fixed), feel free to re-open it to bump it out of "Resolved" status, issues in that status don't actually show up on the view I normally use; I just happened to specifically look for this issue because I remembered what you said on IRC.

Ok, it should really be fixed for 4.043 (it works properly in my tests, on both planets).

Basically those were hybrid drones and I had suppressed the auto-cull logic for coordinated ships. I've un-suppressed that for now so it will clean out old saves. I've also made those 4 starship-esque spire bonus types non-eligible to be hybrid drones, since that would just be so brutal.
