Summary0015579: Installation corrupted updating non-Steam pre-1.008 to 1.5xx
DescriptionI am getting a dialog box which says "Could not preload global game manager #0".

I think this bug can be triggered by downloading the demo (version 1.000 from http://valley2.s3.amazonaws.com/Valley2Setup-windows.exe) and updating to the latest version (1.501).

My best guess as to what's happening, is that the incremental updating of pre-1.008 installs doesn't properly update all files for some reason. Googling the error message shows this problem arises occasionally in many different Unity games (including two past Arcen titles). Most of the reports of this error message seemed to be along the lines that the game data is corrupt and a clean re-install solves the problem.

Additional information: I have two Valley 2 installations, 1.007 on Linux using Wine and 1.004 on Windows. These are not Steam-based installations (in fact I have never associated Valley 2 to my Steam account). I was a beta tester. I have tried the following:

- Upgrade 1.007 -> 1.501 on Linux/Wine by following in-game prompts

- Upgrade 1.000 -> 1.501 on Linux/Wine by downloading demo from http://valley2.s3.amazonaws.com/Valley2Setup-windows.exe and entering license key when prompted

- Upgrade 1.004 -> 1.501 on Windows by following in-game prompts

Since it happens in Windows too, this suggests that it's not a Wine problem. I haven't actually tested 1.000 -> 1.501 in Windows, I'll update this ticket when/if I do.

I'll also try manually updating and update this ticket with the results.

Hey there, sorry about the really slow reply, I've been out of the office and this got missed. I completely botched the 1.500 patch for windows in terms of actually forgetting to include the, um, updated executable. So the old version of that executable from unity 3.whatever was not compatible with the new 4.2.1 unity asset files, hence the error you were getting.

I've now updated the update so that anyone else downloading 1.500 won't get that problem anymore. What to do:

1. For anyone reading this and have installed the update after now, then there's nothing for you to worry about.

2. For anyone using a non-windows version of the game, there's nothing for you to do, either.

3. If you are on windows and are having this issue, then you can manually download this file: http://valley2.s3.amazonaws.com/Valley2_1500.zip Then unzip that into your base install folder for the game, and that will update you properly to 1.500. It will then want you to update to 1.501 after that, but your install is not corrupt or in any way harmed by this. Note: If you want to shortcut this, you can actually even just pull Valley2.exe out of that zip file linked above and replace the version in your install folder with it. That's all that needs to change; everything else is fine.

Sorry about this, and thanks for your patience!
