Summary | 0001541: Missing Localization -> Desynch?
Description | I've been told missing localizations don't cause dysynchs, but only 0000066:0000012 minutes in it was the only error in the error logs. Saving and reloading fixed the issue, it was just odd. 11/22/2010 7:35:20 PM (4.038) ----------------------------------- MISSING LOCALIZATION----------------------------------- SpirecraftMartyr 11/22/2010 7:35:20 PM (4.038) ----------------------------------- MISSING LOCALIZATION----------------------------------- SpireAdvancedPhotonBombardmentCannons_Full

Trust me, they don't cause desyncs -- or crashes. Also, please don't call every crash a desync, if you don't mind -- it's confusing. ;) If it doesn't say DESYNC on the host's screen, it' just a garden variety crash, not a desync. We have kind of a physical reaction when we hear the dreaded "d word." ;) |
No, it was a desynch, not a crash. We got a "waiting for players" message with no indication of which player (in the stats screen) was being waited on. Like I said, I know localization issues don't cause desynchs (or crashes) it was just the only thing that showed up in the error logs. |
Okay, well in those cases you should (on the host) see DESYNC in the stats page. Usually there is also a desync log written on the host, as well. If that's not what happened, then it might just be that the network connection dropped in some manner, or got into a resend cycle with one of the network cards, etc. Only the host sees who it is waiting on, but in the case of a crash or a desync it would show who it is. |
Host did not have any error logs either, beyond the same localization one I had. |
Ok. Well, if it happens again the host needs to check on their stats screen for those things, and hopefully that would answer the question more -- right now it's pretty much a mystery! (Note that the localization errors are just sort of an internal log for us, and that gets written when the application starts -- there's really no way it could possibly contribute to an in-game error). |
It was my host who said it was a desynch, and neither of us were able to locate any logfiles with any relevant information. |
