Summary | 0001404: Missile Turrets autotargeting Bulletproof Fighters over Raiders
Description | My Missile Turrets, with bonuses against ultra-light, were preferring to target Bulletproof Fighters (Heavy) over Raiders (ultra-light.) I had to manually give them target preferences for them to target Raiders instead. See save. (P.S. I got 2000 raiders and 500 bulletproof fighters in my first wave. Exciting!)

Targeting is one of those things that has a TON of variables. It doesn't pay attention directly to bonuses in the sense of having a specific preference -- it's a bit more subtle and intelligent than that. In this case, I think it was that the missile turrets saw that they were going to overkill the raiders, and instead decided to do their full damage output to the Bulletproof Fighters. Ships try to maximize the amount of damage they actually do, not the amount of damage that they would-deal-if-overkill-did-anything. Hope that makes sense. |
