Summary | 0001387: The AI sends waves even when all warp gates are destroyed (for real this time) | ||||
Description | I destroyed the neighboring warp gates to stop the AI waves from hitting me. A few minutes later, the AI nonetheless sent a wave to "???"; when the timer ran out, the wave spawned at a Warp Gate two jumps away and moved to my home planet. Is this by design; and if so, why remove much of the incentive for players to gateraid? They still get the waves, they just don't come immediately anymore... | ||||

Yeah, it's one of the later ones... No more warpgates on neighboring planets. Which means that if you destroy the last warpgate, you're actually in a worse position than if you have one left, which kinda sucks. Ah well; it seems it's intended to work like this. |

Well, do you expect the AI to just give up when it has no direct avenue of attack? They do on the very low difficulties, but that would make gate raiding insanely invaluable. As it stands, when they can't go at you directly, they go at you via a random indirect location, which only makes sense. |

Yea, it's also not actually all that more difficult, it's just different, and some players actually prefer it so much that we added the cross-planet-waves that basically always does the "start in AI space and move in normally" logic regardless of whether gates are available. But if you're not expected it, it can be tough. |
