Summary0001367: Engineers - econ vs. military work
DescriptionIt would be useful to have either a control that separates the number of engineers working on military and economic stuff or perhaps two classes of engineers - an economic and a military. The single control "prefer non military" is a little too coarse (in my opinion) to achieve this goal.
Heck, might be a good use for the no longer useful clean up drones - ie, branch the engineers into two types econ and mil, but a control set could easily do this too.

This would be really handy. Engineers tend to "clump" to jobs, all working on one thing at a time, when sometimes it'd be better if they were splitting their attention (between, say, building a force field and accelerating a dock). Being able to specify a group to build and a group to repair/aid construction would result in a significant reduction in micromanagement.

Yes, that's a very good idea.
Right now for example engineers in FRD all go and assist ship construction instead of repairing existing ships, which is quite annoying (I didn't yet unlock the mobile repair station), I have to pause construction to make them do the job.
