Summary0000126: Starship special abilities
DescriptionI'm not sure if this has been suggested before but I was thinking perhaps there could be a special ability for each Starship, each with a long recharge.

These would be player activated by a button or shortcut along the lower menu (when Starship highlighted).

For example a few ideas:

Defensive
Mass Repair - Repairs all ally ships by x amount in a small radius of the Starship.
Sheild Repel - pushes enemy ships away in a ever expanding field which slows and fades out.
Warp Jump - Jump to nearest friendly planet without using a wormhole.
Afterburn - Double or triple speed rate for a short space of time.
Engulfing Arc Shield - the Starship shield forms a forward facing arc that protects all units within it, lasts for x amount of time before recharge required.


Offensive
Scatter Cannon - a shrapnel effect weapon that fires many many small explosive rounds in a radius around the Starship to damage and destroy close range attacking AI.
Tractor Beams - lock smaller enemy ships to Starship so they can't escape.
Shield Down - lower shields and re-route power to main weapons for a double volley, double reload, small time window after firing before shields come back online.
Volley - all weapon systems remain down until after say 30 seconds, at which point all weapons fire at once with considerably more power. Requires two identical Starships working togeather?
Self destruct - detonate the reactor to produce a massive explosion that damages 'everything' within a large radius.

Some of these might work well as individual starship ideas, to go along with http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=175

For instance, perhaps:
engineer starship (engineer + immune to instakill. Do want)
point defense starship (flak turrets, possibly tachyon emissions?)
speed inhibitor starship (speed 12-15 in a midsize radius?)
Mobile shield starship (about mk1 ff level range, maybe 5m hp, at 12-15 speed)
..suicide starship?
