Summary | 0001237: Candy Tech - Single Use Shield
Description | A "super shield" that could shield a single object. Tiny radius force field, unmoving, but very high hp with very-long-build-time (2 hour base), but low cost so it can be deleted if you need to move it to another front-line-essential-structure.

So, basically it'd be like the exo-forcefields for harvesters, but more HP and be usable on anything? It'd make defense a bit too easy if you could just make any important structure, like command station, nearly invincible to anything but FF-penetrating weapons. |
Well yes, but the idea is that you only ever get one, so if you want to make one command station very hard to kill, you can do so, without having to unlock all the way to mk3 force fields and get 3-4 force fields that you don't need. |
Making anything 'very hard to kill' against the AI reduces challenge immensely. And since you mentioned it'd be low cost, you could just dedicate a ton of engies to get it done in mere minutes, rather than the 2 hour base time, since it'd not consume a lot of resources. It's all just too easy, even if it's just for one command station or whatever. That's my opinion anyhow. :p Also, quoting: "without having to unlock all the way to mk3 force fields and get 3-4 force fields that you don't need. " Well if you didn't need them, then why did you unlock them? ;) The need to unlock something is the reason you unlock them to begin with. |
Well, the idea is to have "one" strong and small forcefield, rather than the 3-4 large and comparatively knowledge-expensive forcefields that you have to get now if you want the same coverage but for only one thing. Also, there is a certain point where more engineers don't speed up things by much. At 2 hours base time, that'd still be 15 minutes with 6 mk3 engineers (if my rough-guess-math is right) |
Out of scope for now, but possible for later. Possibly good for the community dlc poll suggestions. |

HitmanN, the idea is that there is one. "everybody gets one" - spiderman |
