Description | After I went to planet next to my HW to recover the ... wave was spawned that was supposed to destroy it. I'm not sure if this is intended or maybe not scaling with ship caps (I'm playing on low) but about 230 ships of marks I-V makes recovery pretty impossible. I manged only because I had FF Bearers unlocked and I could exploit them heavily for protection. | ||||

First, you mean the ships spawned near the nearest AI warp gate, right? Not an announced wave? Just making sure, because the fallen-spire stuff doesn't do announced waves (at that stage, anyhow). Second, what difficulties were the AIs and how many homeworlds did you have? Third, was this all in one spawn, or was it multiple chunks coming from the warp gate (about 40 seconds apart, in that version)? Anyway, in general these "recovery" situations are intended to stretch player ingenuity a bit, particularly later on, but it does sound like you were dealt more ships than intended. The spawn-composition logic is very different for the next version, fwiw. |

Ships spawned in system - didn't check if they were at warp gate - there was no announcement (but warning previously in text). Game was against 2 7 AI's with no handicaps. Standard one HW start. All of them spawned at once and proceeded straight for the present. |

I confirmed now that ships didn't actually spawn in system. Killing warp gate didn't help. They simply came from one of wormholes. And it's much more of them this time - more than 500. I think they may actually demolish my HW quite soon :D Ok.. this is to much. That ships are coming from other planets as threat - and there is more than 1k still left even after I killed some. Last edit- getting artifact made enough threat to kill everything I had :D I will wait for next version. |

On difficulty 7.0 and 9.0 it's difficult but not impossible to recover the whatchamacallit, which is the way it's meant to be played isn't it? |

The spawns come from the closest warp gate, so if you kill the nearest one they come from another (but it's easier to protect the artifact). The spawns happen (at least for that one in that version) every 40 seconds; usually they won't get a chance to spawn more than 2 or 3 if the artifact's planet is 1 hop from your homeworld. So I don't really know what's going on in your case, I did quite a few tests and didn't see anything really out of hand like that. May as well wait to retest in the new version, like you said. I don't know if Chris is planning to do a release tonight or Monday. |

Ahh I know what I did then - I didn't get artifact straight to my HW. So if spawns continue endlessly that would explain it. |

So much has changed with the fallen spire stuff in the intervening time that I'm marking this closed. |
