Description | Usually, the preset text for locked doors and gates is perfect. Even the gate sealing the family's haven is pretty good -- "You must find a key, because there is no way to smash it down." However, there are cases, including this one, where a custom message would be much better. In this example, the kids don't *want* to open this gate when they first visit this screen. Secondly, it will soon be known that Lela is actually carrying a copy of the key. A much better message would have Lela telling Pierce that beyond that gate is the terrible Phoenix Forest, and that she's never allowed to open it. Other examples of custom door text include: "You knock, but no one answers." "Go away! You're not getting in here!" "Darrell, I think this way leads to the dungeon they were talking about." I could always set a trigger tile in front of the door, but it wouldn't be cool to get that prompt when you're just trying to walk past the door. This one's just a suggestion, not critical, of course! :) | ||||

* Doors now allow you to edit the text on them, and then they show your alternate text rather than their standard text if you try to open them and can't. ** I've set up one example of this in 003-E. |
