Summary0010410: MaleFollower and FemaleFollower need pathfinding
DescriptionAttached is a screenshot example of where a follower (Lela) became separated from P1 (Pierce) by a very short wall. This defeats the purpose of being followed, as scripted conversation will appear as though you're being followed.

Can the followers use the same pathfinding techniques as the Grays?

* The follower NPCs now use full pathing rather than the simple tracking they were using before. This lets them follow you with much more accuracy.

Much better! Lela definitely can keep up, now! ...I don't want to reopen this particular issue for the following, but I see that as Lela passes through vertical, one-tile-wide hallways with a need to move diagonally upon finishing that hallway, she often looks left and right rapidly as she walks. I believe the same is still true of Grays -- I've seen in the past that they still visibly test whether walls are real as they pathfind.

I still have yet to ever observe this -- can you post a screenshot of somewhere I can use to test this on my machine? This might have something to do with processor speed or GPU or framerate or something.

It happens in the very beginning of the game, at 001 Main. Watch Lela as she follows you south toward the nearest stairs, or as you enter the bathroom.

(It's even less forgivable when you're being followed by a sane person instead of a Gray, lol!)

Yep, I can't see this at all on my main machine. I'll have to check it on my lower-powered Mac later. Do you have the FPS display on that you can turn on in settings? What sort of FPS are you getting?

The FPS is between 43 and 44. The Ind Draws are between 246 and 247.

That's not a bad FPS, although it's falling short of what VSYNC would want. What happens if you turn off VSync in the settings menu? Does the wiggle go away?

60fps would be the vsync value, by the way -- that's what I get, although if I turn off vsync I can get up to 120fps or so.

Actually, I've never turned VSYNC on before, so it's always been off (by default). And yes, I'm playing in full screen mode.

What happens if you turn it on? Or play in windowed mode? Do either of those affect your jitter issue?

If I turn VSYNC on while still in full screen, it still plays the same way, with the same frame rate stats.

If I leave VSYNC on and go to windowed mode, she actually seems to have *more* jitters, with FPS at 39 and Ind Draws at 248.

If I stay in windowed mode and turn VSYNC back off, it's the same stats and performance as if VSYNC were on.
