Summary | 0010194: water-logged stairwells
Description | In Venetian Slow Pursuit, there is a stairwell adjacent to deep water. You can walk onto this and go down, per usual. However, the stairs on the basement screen are also adjacent to deep water. Appearing there causes you to be dunked instantly. Similarly, if you're already down there and you take these stairs back up, you will be dunked upon returning outside. Since I had already been underground before discovering this, the game teleported me to the last "good" stairs I had visited, clear across the sub-level. The reverse was true when I took the stairs to go back up -- I was teleported to the last good outdoor stairs I had visited. Later, I found that if you haven't been to any other stairs, you become invisible and unable to move until you push the action button to climb back up the stairs. But if you start underground and take those stairs up, you simply reappear after being dunked and can play outside normally.

Forgot to mention, I'm adjusting the level in this example to not have deep water next to these stairs. The issue is only opened to ensure that the bug itself is addressed. |

* Fixed up the Venetian Slow Pursuit level with the non-organic flags for the water, which were intended to be used in situations just like this -- basically, the water is not supposed to be organic here anyhow, because it's hard concrete barriers above the water. ** This also solves the secondary issue of falling in water by using the staircase. The bug itself isn't really an issue too much to me, as it's just a case of intractable level design that a level designer would find and then work around like you did. Putting entrances by deep water = bad. ;) |
|
But I *like* the idea of stairwells next to water! lol For some reason, I didn't even think about non-organic flags while playing with this level. Now that you've put them in, it looks a lot better! However, I'm creating an issue for those corners that get submerged anyway, and the bad effect caused by trying to fix them with these flags. |
