Description | As I understand it, the from behind bonus should activate if the enemies gun is pointed opposite your direction. Is it possible that this is only triggering when the gun is exactly 180°? I can't seem to figure out what is triggering the backstab bonus and why it doesn't work sometimes. Could it be z levels? Any event, I think anything greater than 90° is what the player is going to expect, as you are no longer technically at their right or left side. | ||||

There's about a 60 degree cone behind the enemy. If you have some cases of it not working, I'd be interested to see. |

Oh -- I also wanted to check. You are actually talking about units that have this bonus, right? If a unit is weak from behind, it says in the tooltip if that's active or if you're out of range. But this isn't a generalized bonus against all units. In a different ticket you mentioned other units getting that bonus on you, and that's not a thing, either. |

Here is a photograph of Ablators. I get a different percentage on each one with the same unit upon the top of the skyscraper. I thought I was going to get a backstab bonus, not really sure why the damage amounts are different for each one. Occasionally, I get a few hundred percent damage increase. But I thought the android placements would have tactical advantages all the time. How should we be exploiting the positioning? |

Ablators are not weak to from-behind attacks, at all, ever. That's a specific property on some units. I'll make that more clear. On the difference damage percentage amounts, it's because those units have different amounts of health. You're doing the same amount of damage to each of them, probably. There is no way to exploit positioning against most enemy units. On some, sure. Some you can get a bonus from above, some from behind. It's something that varies by unit, and it tells you in the prediction tooltip for your attack if that's the case or not, and if you are getting any bonuses or failing them. I'm planning on making this more explicit in the handbook, because a lot of tactics games -- which this is not -- have you endlessly trying to get behind every enemy. This game uses a variety of mechanics with different enemies, like some have powered armor but most don't, some are weak to backstab but most are not, some you can get a height advantage on, but most not. Some are weak to specific types of damage, others are not weak to any type of damage over another. Some are weak to specific kinds of status effects, others not. Etc. Don't worry about the file sizes, the drive for this server has like 2 TB. :) |

What I did in the other build was make it so that there's a new and key handbook entry which basically states how most units don't actually have spatial bonuses. Since many tactics game has them all the time, and this one only has it a bit of the time, that's a key clarification. |
