Description | I have been trying to play a multiplayer game over the internet with a friend. He is hosting on his machine (Linux) and I am joining him on mine (Windows). The game plays fine for the first few minutes but begins to desync more and more as we play. Rehosting seems to solve the problem, but we would have to rehost very often in order to off set this problem. The desync seems to get progressively worse the longer we play as well. At first it starts off as me receiving notifications about AI raids and fleet locations late. These notifications get progressively later and later as the game goes on, until eventually I don't get notified until after the battle has actually happened. Eventually I also start getting false reports on the locations of all of my and the enemies fleets. For example, I may tell my fleet to move to load up and move to a system. My friend will tell me they have already arrived and need to be unloaded, but on my screen they haven't even loaded yet. I have also observed enemy ships coming into my systems and being trapped by my tractor beams, but not being shot at by my turrets, while at the same time my friend reports that there aren't any enemies in that system. In some games I have noticed that certain things don't display, for example in our latest attempt I wasn't getting map information on the location of capturable fleets, and had to wait on the map screen for about a minute before it displayed them. As far as I could tell, it was only not displaying the capturable fleets, everything else was being displayed. In some battles my forcefields never go up, which causes the enemy to teleport around my screen wildly as they fly into where my shields should be, then get teleported back to their actual location. I've attached a screen shot of two of the error pop ups I've seen, I can easily collect more if they are requested. If their are logs or something somewhere I can submit, I'd be more than happy to submit those as well. |
