Summary | 0009719: Super-fast earthquakes
Description | In the bonus Desert Earthquake level, accessible in the central building of Stantonsburg, the earthquakes occur a lot faster than the player is able to navigate past them. I'm sure you just need to adjust the timing for the ported version, but thought I'd include it here.

Hmmm, I think you just have not solved the puzzle. I already adjusted the timing and it should be fine. |
Also, the extra-wide pits might be breaking it at the moment, too. |
That must be an intense run! ;) |
It definitely is. I may need to provide a video to make sure you're seeing the same thing I am, though. :) |
All in all it takes about 10-15 seconds to win that level, I think, though. And if you don't make it to a certain point in about 4 seconds, you've lost. |
Okay, I've finalized this level now. :) * Level 74, desert quake, has been updated to include better text on its sign -- you have 15 seconds to make it to the exit, not a minute, and it also mentions that you should "think temporally." ** Also, the timing of the level itself has been updated so that it's no longer so difficult with the newer style of pits that span more than one tile. Now the way forward is a bit clearer, and you don't have to thread the needle of thin pit areas at any point anymore if you're solving the puzzle correctly. |

I attempted this again, but so far, I still can't win. My understanding is that you must head for the portal which is farthest away, and you must wait for a cactus to disappear in the upper center area. However, when it vanishes, I don't have the skill to run between cactii and ravines fast enough to finish. I would have kept trying, but the clock's ticking. ;) |
The winning portal is in the bottom left corner, not the upper left; the three portals are there to make that less certain. You want to get to the right of the four cacti near the center of the map, then move past them as they disappear. Then it's not really that bad of a run to get to the bottom left portal. It's definitely one of the trickiest levels in the game, because you have like no time to think; but it's not overly demanding on skill if you're going for the right portal in the right sequence (whereas it's incredibly overly demanding on skill if you're going for the right portal, and in fact I'm pretty positive it's always _just_ out of reach of any level of skill, which is the idea, heh). |
Oh my gosh, I actually won on my first try, today! That is such a cool puzzle! Still, I'm sure we'll have a lot of people swearing it's impossible. Hence your 'bonus' status, hehe... |
Bingo! :D |
